Craving nachos and burritos and tacos? We are too. This time of year is the right time for all Mexican fare as we celebrate the very flavors brought to us from the south. Mexican dishes with onion are a great way to celebrate Mexican Independence Day.
Just as important for America’s Fourth of July celebration is Mexican Independence Day on Sept. 16. That is the day in 1810 when a Catholic priest delivered the Cry of Delores, a call to arms that triggered the Mexican War of Independence from Spain. This celebration is different from Cinco de Mayo, which celebrates a later victory from the French during the Battle of Puebla.
