How to make an onion bowl
This is the perfect way to serve dips, salsas and chutneys for any special occasion or anytime you don’t want the hassle of clean-up!
Items needed:
1 large or very large yellow, red, or white onion
1 chef knife
1 mellon baller
Directions:
Cut off the top third of a large onion. Trim the root end to make a flat support, be careful to not cut the root end off completely. The root end will keep the onion intact and prevent the juicier dips from leaking. Peel off the outside layers of papery skin from the onion. Scoop out inner layers with a melon baller. Be sure to leave a couple outer layers intact. Spoon or pour your dip, salsa, or chutney into your carved onion bowl and enjoy!
