Four Star Ag
Four Star Ag is a family-owned farming operation rooted in the rich agricultural heritage of North Dakota. Based in Oakes, Four Star Ag is led by fourth-generation farmer Barry Vculek, whose experience and long-term commitment to farming shape every aspect of the operation.

Barry is a fourth-generation farmer deeply rooted in North Dakota’s agricultural landscape. With nearly 32,000 farmers in the state, where farming occupies 90 percent of the land, Barry stands out as a pivotal figure. His journey into farming began in the fourth grade, and by the seventh grade, he was independently managing 500 acres —a plot of land he continues to cultivate to this day.
He now manages approximately 1,000 acres and has specialized in onion production since 2008, bringing a disciplined, grower-focused approach developed from years of row-crop farming. That experience supports consistent production practices and a strong understanding of what buyers need from planting through harvest.
Beyond the field, Four Star Ag plays an active role in advancing the onion industry nationwide. Barry Vculek serves on the National Onion Association’s executive board and will serve as the organization’s president through 2028. The farm is a consistent presence at the NOA’s annual Washington, D.C. Fly-In, where industry leaders work directly with policymakers to support American agriculture.

Four Star Ag is one of only two onion-growing operations in North Dakota and the state’s sole member of the National Onion Association. This unique position underscores the farm’s role in representing North Dakota onions at both the regional and national level.
Built on generational knowledge, industry involvement, and a steady focus on quality production, Four Star Ag continues to contribute to the strength and future of the U.S. onion industry.
