In the early 1980s, as the Midwest farm crisis pushed many operations to the brink, Lynn Fagerberg took a hands-on approach to survival. With demand low and prices worse, he loaded his pickup with onions and drove 60 miles from Eaton, Colorado, to Denver—personally delivering samples to grocery buyers. One quality-control manager summed it up simply: “You have the best onions.” That moment opened the door, and Fagerberg Produce never looked back.

Rooted in northern Colorado since the 1880s, the family farm now spans 2,500 acres, with 1,500 dedicated to white, yellow, and red onions. Rotational crops like wheat, corn, and alfalfa support long-term soil health, while a mix of machinery and hand labor ensures consistent quality. What began as local deliveries has grown into nationwide distribution, guided by a straightforward motto: Service and quality.
Today, the next generation carries the operation forward. While Colorado’s unpredictable weather, labor challenges, and rising costs remain constant tests, the focus stays the same—meeting high standards and taking care of customers. As Lynn often says, perseverance matters most: when times get tough, keep going. Better days always come.
