Onions Go National In Celebration of Cinco de Mayo
According to a recent survey of more than 1,000 chefs across the country, Latin American cuisine was named one of the "hottest" ethnic foods in 2008! Cinco de Mayo, a holiday that historically celebrates the defeat of the French army by the Mexicans at the Battle of Puebla in 1862, has fast become one of American's most popular occasions for general celebration and entertaining. It is the perfect occasion to turn dinnertime into a Latin fiesta!
To help home cooks bring Mexican cuisine to family and friends and to celebrate Cinco de Mayo, the National Onion Association and National Pork Board teamed up with savvy party planners, Carolina Buia and Isabel Gonzalez, co-authors of Latin Chic: Entertaining with Style and Sass, for a satellite media tour.

National, regional, and local TV and radio stations around the country conducted live interviews with Carolina and Isabel via satellite from New York City April 22, 2008. These beautiful latin chicas offered tips for entertaining Latin style and demonstrated two simple recipes with lively flavor featuring onions and pork. Viva La Onions!
